Several years ago, the owners of Medcentres PLC, one of the leading UK providers of healthcare facilities, identified a 35-acre site on which to develop a Health & Wellness resort in Lagos. During the negotiations to acquire this site an opportunity arose to purchase another parcel of land which was ideally located for the owners to build a family Villa. The land was situated in an elevated position just behind Meia Praia beach and adjacent to Palmares Golf and Beach resort. The only slight problem was that the land had an area of over 5 hectares which was too much even for a wonderful second home.
However, the opportunity was too good to miss. The owners therefore bought the land and applied to the council to split the land into 11 generous sized plots to enable others to enjoy the views and proximity to the beach and all the facilities that Lagos has to offer. Full planning permission was granted a couple of years ago and all the local infrastructures have now been completed.
Each plot has great views of the sea with Lagos just beyond. The beach, local restaurants and the Golf Club are all within a reasonable walking distance. The Marina and Lagos are but a short drive away and Faro airport can be reached within an hour.
The owners are very protective of the development and resolved to entrust the designs to one of Europe’s leading contemporary Architects, Mario Martins who is co-incidentally a native of Lagos. The fact that Mario will design all of the homes will ensure the integrity of the design language and protect the views of the individual homes. It can be strongly argued that the completed development will be the most prestigious of its kind in the Western Algarve.
The owners welcome interest from people who wish to establish a first or second home but equally discourage interest from passive investors. The owners also wish to see the development completed in good time to allow everyone to peacefully enjoy their new homes as quickly as possible.
Paths to ownership
Two paths to ownership are offered. The first is to acquire one of the premium plots which then gives our clients the opportunity to work with Mario to design a unique Villa of their dreams. Once the design is finalised New Paradigm Lda., the owners Portuguese building company, will be pleased to offer a competitive fixed cost quotation to complete the project. Alternatively, an independent builder and professional team can be appointed from an approved list. Whatever the choice Alma do Mar will always be on hand to offer help and advice to facilitate an enjoyable journey to occupation.
The second is to purchase a turnkey project designed by Mario and built by New Paradigm Lda. We have two fully designed projects which are now entering the construction phase with delivery expected in Autumn 2019. At this early stage it is still possible for our clients to influence the internal specification and finishes.
